I have a small business I probably use 10-20 stamps a month. I’ve looked into getting a postal meter but it’s something like $400/ year I believe something around 800 items a year was the break even point. I can’t remember it’s been a couple of years.

My company spends thousands each month in postal charges. Yeah the use a postage meter, but would stand to save good money if they could use fraudulent postage.

so they don't use actual stamps.

The USPS doesn't separate peel and stick stamps from metered mail postage stamps. They separate bulk mail and things like that, but that 18B number is firsr class single envelopes with either a peel and stick stamp or a metered stamp.

Just change the return / sender address on an envelope you got and put "return to sender".

A stamp costs like 40 cents

I cant imagine it it worth your time to counterfeit it

Article

Found this article from last year that states most counterfeit stamps are to fool stamp collectors and are deemed bogus. They are not produced to fool the USPS and mailers. Interesting...

After Castro took over Cuba my old man was pissed to not be able to get Cuban cigars in Florida anymore. In protest he used old cigar bands as postage stamps. None of them got returned so I guess they all went through.

As a kid, I had a pen pal. I think we tried to cover our stamp with some scotch tape so the postmark ink wouldn’t touch it. Then you could reuse it. At least, that was our theory. Wayyyy too much trouble for a 20¢ stamp.
