I know an attorney who leases a printer/scanner/fax machine, pays a stationary company for letterhead MONTHLY, and other old school shite. Dude pays over a grand a month for those services and has done so for the last 15 years or so. Think about how much that adds up. It's beyond stupid.

Sure it is, that machine he's leasing will make everything he needs. Upgrading with some workflow scanning will cut tons of his paper usage. But these old school guys aren't changing anytime soon.

They will eventually retire or die off. 20 years ago in 1996 email wasn't much of a requirement to do business. Now it's almost impossible to do business without it. It will change for the simple fact that it's more efficient and cost effective. It's easier to maintain and preserve the integrity of the documents. It's easier to transport the document. It's easier to have multiple parties be able to coauthor the document and the list goes on. It will happen and sooner than you think. If you were told 15 years ago that almost everyone would have a portable computer in their pocket that could make voice and video calls, have full access to the Internet, have access to global maps with global position tracking and be a full featured media player you would have thought that was ludicrous. And to think people still think we need paper documents.
