I deal with 1000's of business annually. And have never met one that all they have is electronic documents. Sorry, maybe I'm a idiot but I have yet to see that business.

Sounds like printer salesman.
Do you still rent DVD's from Blockbuster?
The game is changing. You can store every paper document in this world in a small datacenter, replicate it to the cloud and have it dispersed across the globe to redundant datacenters. Every single doc could be indexed, searchable and accessible from any number of devices in seconds.
The only reason anybody needs a printer is in situations where you absolutely have to have multi-copy forms and you need an impact printer such as a dot matrix. And even then you should revise your workflow and adopt a new process.
Younger generations don't print. They have digital pictures, electronic receipts, etc. You can hang on to that business model as long as you want. Maybe you can be CEO of Blockbuster too....

I'm and under 25 yo business owner. My industry dictates that I print-sign in person-scan- and email back.

I was agreeing with you until you got here. There's still many reasons to use a printer beyond your one example here.
I do agree that it's silly not to use e-docs as much as possible these days but I also see the need to print documents. No business is 100% printer free.

Sure you can and everyday the game changes. One touch scanning, cloud storage, mobile print solutions, etc.... But the bottom line, the guys signing the checks are still printing. See what I did there.

That's because most of them have older less tech savvy end users. Younger generations are more tech savvy and they are entering the job market every day. I work for one of the largest companies in Louisiana and we just signed a 4 million dollar printing contract for a pull print solution. There is almost no workflow in our organization that couldn't be revised to not require printing. It would take some effort to revise all of the workflows and re-educate the end users but in most cases the end result would be a more efficient workflow that is more cost effective. Don't think for one minute that most large companies don't have some paperless objective on their radar.

Not yet. Conservatively, give it 15 years.

I guess, I can see some old guy breaking out his checkbook. How may people under 35 have a checkbook? Most people and businesses are doing ACH transfers, debit and credit transactions. That paper check is absolutely pointless. The only thing needed on it is the routing code and account number so that the banks know how to electronically transfer the funds. You dont think they ship paper money to each other do you?

See what I did there? Writing checks? Went right over your head I see.

That is when every business will be paper free. There are plenty now.

Well, there are literally 0 in my industry, so really your whole argument in this thread was dumb.

Some people are visionaries in their respective industry's and utilize technology to their advantage. They may use it to make things more accessible to their clients, provide better services or improve employee productivity. They do these things to get a leg up on their competition.
Some just go with the flow and do what everybody else is doing.

It's not my call. Companies that I work with don't accept e-signatures. Keep bashing your head into a brick wall, you're not near as smart as you think you are.

Just to argue with you because my wife is watching reality tv right know. I'm currently outfitting a new ford dealer, brand new state of the art building. Owners wanted to go completely mobile, iPads printing from the lot whole deal. Ford Corporate, considered by most, the cats meow when it comes to tech. says no way!
