Go to Michaels or any craft store. They sell very very thin sheets of foam. Take the insole out, trace it on the sheet of foam and cut. Put the piece of foam underneath boot insole. The beauty of it is you can stack your custom footbed to make them tighter if need be. Just one thin layer of this stuff will have a very noticeable change in comfort.

I've used the same shoe shop (a Lebanese family) and they have brought some terrible shoes back to life.
