Can anyone recommend an apartment complex in NOLA or surrounding area?

I may be moving down there in the summer for med school and am just trying to get an idea of where I might live. I did my undergrad at Tulane so I know New Orleans fairly well but I am not privy to any apartment complexes down there for the most part.

Looking for a 1 bedroom for a decent price, probably cap it at around $1000 a month. Definitely open to living off in Metry or the Harahan area. Would love to be Uptown or Mid City though.

Mainly looking for a nice safe place to spend the next 4 years of my life studying my dick off

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Been some years but I stayed in American Can apartments for a little while and really enjoyed it and the location. And they didn't have near the shite around the area they have now. It's close to everything surface street wise. Quick ride to h&s center

Just take a look at each one. They all have their pros and cons. Some a bit more affordable than others. All within the same area and an easy walk and even easier bike ride to and from school.

If you check out any one place and it seems to fit the bill and have any questions you know how to find me...

Like I said I've lived in the neighborhood on this side of canal now for a little over 6 years so have seen this area transform. Have lives in 2 of those complexes but spent a good amount of time in all of the buildings and know people in them...

There are plenty other buildings in the area but I'm not AS familiar with the units as I am with the ones i listed.

Good luck in Med School

At that price Saulet is probably your only option in the city.

I've never lived there but I checked it out when I was looking last year.

Not a great area. I've heard its quite the hot spot for theft and vehicle break ins.

Also its a HUGE complex and the build and finish quality was shite. Basically like a college luxury complex that is decent for a year or two after construction before normal wear and tear turn it to absolute shite.

Just wasnt my style at all. Wayyyy too many people living and using one complex.

Why? My wife goes to LSUHSC and we live Uptown.

OP, if you want to live Uptown I'd look into a duplex or a 4-plex.

Are you only interested in apt. complexes?

My roommate is at Tulane for med school and we live in a duplex uptown. He likes it because he can use Reiley to work out at, use Tulane's library to study, and uses their bus to get downtown to the med school.

But that might not be a great option if you are going to LSU med school.

Just for convenience. If you dont mind the added commute then uptown is fine.

Yeah the Tulane short buses are legit. I would take them from the CBD to campus often for class instead of driving and having to park. And could do some reading or whatever on the ride.

They run on time, pretty frequent, and are clean.

Didn't think about that option since he is going to Tulane. So yeah he could possibly look along Tulane bus routes from campus to CBD and look for places uptown

Yep, we live a block off the park. He just rides his bike to Tulane and brings it downtown with him to the med school. I think it is having all the other amenities that the main campus offers to him that he enjoys.

I used to live at Constance Lofts in the WH district.

LINK

They are str8 the location is what I liked the most.

You only get on parking space off the street though and you can't buy a second spot. Cam Jordan has a girlfriend that lives there so there is a good chance you will see him a lot. I did he is cool and will more than likely speak to you before you realize who he is.
