Can 3-D viewers be used to look at the eclipse?

I was supposed to bring some glasses for everyone at the office to look at the eclipse but everywhere is sold out this morning. Fortunately, I found a box of unused 3D glasses. Will they tell the difference?

Well at least you didn't wait till the last possible minute.

Can you use 3-D glasses to see the eclipse? Sure. You’ll be able to see it great. You won’t be able to see anything else after that though. But you’ll definitely be able to see the eclipse.

I really hope this is a joke.
If not, news this week will be all about folks who blinded themselves. Local news is probably even salivating over it.

You’ll have a day or two to see things for the last time as your retina dies.

If you live in the Shreveport area Sci-Port has them, if not call around to your local planetariums.

Just wear sunglasses

People thinking this is okay will be the leading cause of blindness IMO.

Because a ten dollar pair of fake material is better than sunglasses….

Not sure about 3d glasses. But I'm doing the tinfoil ring around the head while viewing. You can actually receive perfectly clear radio signals with it.

They won’t be able to tell the difference between anything a few minutes after that

You’ll be able to see the eclipse in 3D so there’s that.

Unless the sunglasses stop 99.997% of visible light, UV-A and UV-B, and at least 97% of infrared light…….yeah. The “fake material” bests it. Almost all sunglasses let in a 1000x more UV light.

A welding shield lens is the best thing to use. Not cutting goggles.

You can give them to other people to use and then not use them yourself.

They'll do fine if you don't have any magnifying glasses.

Can and should are two different words.
