This would be my biggest grip as a teacher. Other than that I wouldn't really mind.

Yeah I'd be for it if there was some type of threshold for who and what needed to be reviewed. All teachers make mistakes at times with facts, problems, and other questions, so to use the video to dissect those would be a bit asinine and counterproductive.

As for behavioral issues, the cameras with mics would be a no-brainer.

they have them on the outside and inside of School Buses. Why not the schools themselves?

had this debate with a female coworker who teaches at the same high school as I do. She is against cameras in the classrooms and I am for it.

Why is she against it?

I see no reasonable objection to cameras being used in the classroom, unless the teacher is flat lazy, and doesn't want to be critiqued.

It would provide proof for unruly class behavior by students for parents and or faculty.

It would reveal cheaters.

It would show behaviors by students in class that would need special attention like sleeping, talking (not paying attention), ADHD type behaviors that show lack of attention.

It would show good or lack of participation by students.

On the flip side, it would reveal a lot about the teacher:

Teaching style/skill
Basic interaction skills
Respect demanded, how they keep order
How involved they keep students
Are they "teaching" or puking out information

etc...

From a teacher's standpoint I can see concern. To some teachers it could feel as if the cameras are put in there to monitor them as well as the students. Something could happen and you never know what can be used against someone, however; since parents don't think their kid would ever do anything wrong, then it doesn't become just a "he said, she said" thing. I think people get the impression that someone will go back and watch every second of video, which is not the case. I am sure 99% of what is record will go unseen. It will only be used when something happens so I think it could be a good thing.

Awww, poor teachers... Would they prefer parents that don't give a shite and don't even ask their kids if they did homework?

Trust me, there are plenty of shitty kids of all races in the class... except Asians. Now don't get me wrong they do plenty of shite, they just aren't a class disturbance...

Oh believe me, I know. But I taught in a variety of environments of different races when I was teaching.

But In AP and LP they didn't threaten to kill me. Didn't steal things from me. Didn't try and look up the street price of fentanyl right in front of me.

The problems would be more evident within certain sectors of society, and those hard facts would be deemed "racist" and lawsuits would arise.

And that's just how it works.

Is there no middle ground? Can both types of parents be an issue?

I was going to ask you this question... Seems like you're generalizing about stay at home moms as a whole. There's assholes in every group of course.

Then our leaders across the board need to grow some back bones and stop bowing down to that stupid shite. When you allow the truth to speak for itself it doesn't need to be justified.

Personally I wish we would bring back major alternative schools where little criminals went to be treated like little criminals.

What would the root cause be?

Man, you know these damn progressives and SJWs and lawsuit-terrified Admins have taken all the teeth out of teaching. What are you gonna do? Send them to time out? The bad apples quickly spoil the bunch because if you toss them out they get thrown right back in.

If you put cameras in the classroom there will be an unbelievable backlog across the parish to see the video.

Also, I don't think you realize how crazy some of these "good" and "bad" parents can be. People who are looking to justify out their children's bad behavior will have no limit to how their will twist and turn shite around, even if their is video. Plus, video alone will not always tell the story. Adding audio would just add a whole new set of issues.

Use. It's the most effective way to streamline education and make it better. Things are fricking up, just look at the footage. They use these in sales why not teaching?

I didn't say shite about stay at home moms, that was SFP. However, I understand his point - not all stay at home moms are helicopter parents, but the vast majority of helicopter parents are stay at home moms. I don't believe that is a stretch, and they are a problem, albeit on the opposite end of the spectrum from parents who simply don't give a shite.

No, we'd prefer that they were a dick about everything, didn't ask for little Johnny to get an 90 when he earned a 78, or believe everything their child says and hold them accountable every bit as much as they want to hold his teachers.

As I said before, there needs to be a minimum threshold that must be met before someone can view the video.

Perhaps it would be better if the video was only viewed when there was a problem rather than someone constantly monitoring it waiting for something to happen.

I hear you, but I feel that this was a total team effort from all sides to allow the education in this state and this country to go to hell like it has.

I have zero interest in Trump as a president, but I definitely understand why people are flocking to him. I think everyone, and I mean everyone is tired of caving to the .001 percent of this country.

I know we like to divide things along race lines on this board, but I can promise you the vast majority of black parent(s) in this state would love to have the trash thrown out or put into alternative schools so that their kids can go to school in peace.
