If that’s the case, that means the truck pulled out in front of the kid so it’s the truck’s fault.
That's a bit of a rush to judgment. You don't know how fast the kid was traveling, whether the truck was moved after the accident, which vehicle approached from which direction, etc.

trucks are the worst drivers on the road

i would counter that Camry drivers are the worst. Nearly every Camry I see on the road has some kind of damage.

sort of looks like damage right behind the cab of the truck along the bed. If that side road does not go all the way across and is just coming from the side seen in the picture, then Darth's assumption is probably correct.

The side road you can see in the picture ends there where it intersects with Highway 75 at that intersection. There is no road on the other side. Traffic from that side road has to either turn north or south. For context, the picture in the OP is facing south. The truck in the intersection appears that he was turning north from the side road and the motorcycle was going south and collided with the truck on the truck driver’s side in the intersection. Which, with the light malfunctioning and flashing yellow for highway 75 traffic means the truck is at fault since his light on the side road was flashing red.

I said it was a guess. It’s an educated guess, but still a guess.

You said it was a guess that that is the truck that the kid hit. Then you made a statement of fact that if that was the truck, then the accident was the truck operator's fault. That is the part of your post I was referring to.

You may very well be right, though.

Or possibly the kid ran the red light.

Or possibly you didn’t read the OP where I stated that light had been malfunctioning since at least Monday. I first noted it Monday morning flashing yellow for Highway 75 traffic and red for traffic on the side road. It was still doing this yesterday morning and was still doing it when I went though this intersection yesterday while the wreck was still an active accident scene. This morning though it is back to working normally.

It’s legal for 15 year olds to operate motorcycles on the road

You saying we won’t allow 15 year olds to have a full license and drive alone in a car...... but they can on something exponentially more dangerous?

Had quite a few in Gainesville recently. I ride incredibly careful around here. Never lose focus on my surroundings when driving. I've seen what happens when you do. Fifteen is far to young to ride on the roads...that age it is far to young to handle the ride responsibly.

That’s the law. And unless they’ve changed the law they can even get a permit at 14.

I agree with you. A kid who played little league with my son got a motorcycle when he was 15. I see him out on it sometimes and seeing how he rides I’m amazed he’s not been killed yet.

Almost as dumb as the people who decide it's a good idea to ride motorcycles.

It varies by state of course but I think it’s pretty common to be able to get at least a motorcycle permit at 15 or even 14 in many states.

I think most states have restrictions like the bike has to be 250cc or less.

I agree that 15 is way too young to operate a motorcycle on the road. As a rider, I understand the risk I take every time I get on the back of mine. A 15 year old cannot comprehend those consequences.

Not a question of if a motorcyclist will be involved in an accident but when.
