I'm not saying "wow playing golf in the heat is such a magic weight loss solution." It's obvious you sweat a ton and lose water weight. I'm talking about calorie burning which would be independent of losing water weight.

1200 calories over 4.5 hours is equal to about 267 calories burned per hour. It's not a ridiculous number. Golf is inefficient, but it does burn calories.

I'd guess walking 18 holes would be closer to 1800 calories over 4.5 hours.
