Thanks for the support, brother.

Make sure she spends it on her nails …

A basic manicure and pedicure should not cost more than $100

Have some flowers delivered in the middle of the deal...

At least $100 for just a basic mani-pedi so she will have enough to include a tip. And, that’s if it is her own nails and not those awful fake ones. If she wants one with gel or a “dip” polish which lasts longer, up it to $150-200. And, it depends upon where she goes. Some of the high end spas with nail salons are more expensive than the ones in strip malls.

My wife mentioned me getting her a gift card to get her nails and toe nails done for her birthday. What does that normally cost? I have some gifts already, so I’m trying to get an idea.
And I know… $350
If it were me, I'd go to her spa and get a gift certificate for more -- where she can add some extra stuff she wouldn't normally do.

Because it’s the thought. You even married bro?? It can never be that simple
I’m very married.
I just don’t understand getting a gift card. Arranging a date night, arranging a spa day or things like that, I get. A gift card is just taking your money and moving it to another card but you’re both still paying for it. I don’t get that.
You want to get your nails done? Go get your nails done. If I have my wife a gift card, 1) she’d already know I got it because it would show up on the CC statement, and 2) she’d say why didn’t you take me to dinner instead? This is just our money?

Which is why I suggested the flowers to personalize the gift...

We as a society have to get over this idea that gift cards are somehow more thoughtful than cold, hard cash.
I give my ex brother in law and his kids gift cards.
To me, it's symbolic that I walked my arse into CVS and picked it out.

Do you not have a combined household? Tell her to go get whatever she wants and you watch the kids. That part is the gift.
Posted on 1/12/25 at 6:54 pm to CrawfishElvis
My wife said between $130-$150.
