You paralyze somebody, you had better be able to make a reasonable case that you were in fear of your life. It's all fun and games until somebody gets seriously injured or killed. This is why grown folks don't get in fights unless it's in a dire case of self defense.

That's assuming they ever find and prosecute the perp.

quote:

Michael Garran, the assistant general manager of d.b.a., said Doug visited the Frenchman Street music club several times a year, usually stopping in for the early evening shows featuring traditional jazz.

"He loves live music," Garran said. "Whenever he was in town he would make a point of checking out our shows."

David is a "super pleasant" man, he said, and well liked by the staff. "All of us here at d.b.a. wish him well, and he's in our prayers."

This wasn't some drunken fratstar. He's the kind of tourist you want to come visit.

Did you miss the part where he walked in front of a car, threw his beer at it, and then proceeded to get in a fight?

I read that he was almost hit by a car. Who had the right of way? I would throw my drink at someone that almost killed me as well and the article states that the driver got out of the car and hit him, sounds more like a sucker punch than a fight..but I wasn't there so who knows.

I didn't see anything about driver being caught. I'd think they have a prime suspect since someone reported the license plate number. Did I miss that?

I'm assuming he walked across the street, at night, and then got pissed he almost got hit. Then, he had some choice words with the driver. Then, he threw a beer at the car. Then, he didn't shy away from the confrontation.

Either way, the "perp" can get off pretty easily with a mediocre lawyer. If I was the bad guy and got charged, I'd sue his arse for damages to my car

I'm not a gambler, but I'd bet he regrets throwing the beer

No you're not a gambler..but you are the kind of person who defends people that believe it is acceptable to paralyze a human from the neck down for something as minimal as throwing a can and talking some shite.. starting to sound like you're the perp, hope you can find a mediocre lawyer

Nevermind, It sounds like you are a mediocre lawyer

Typical NOPD response, but the dude made his bed. I don't feel bad for him

Get drunk....check
Cross street in front of car....check
Chunk beer at said car....check
Get arse beat....check

Meh, you can't blame the guy. It's hard to check a man's hands when they are driving.

It's as simple as he started some shite, and it went badly for him. If he didn't start shite, it wouldn't have gone badly for him

So you are saying that is someone wrongs you in one way or the other don't respond, unless you a physically able to defend yourself from being paralyzed?
