Well yeah, I'd imagine they'd butcher most of those names

Bourg-Larose? Just a misspelling right or do we have another debate?

This story checks out. Every Rodrigue I know has been thrown out of somewhere

If your people are from Isle de Jean Charles, we might be related.

Not saying that Rodrigue is a Cajun name, it is a Portuguese name, but the Rodrigues assimilated into the Acadian/ Cajun culture.

It's pee-row baw
The only people I know that pronounce it pee - row is some baws from Mississippi that used to work with.
And they pronounced bayou as bay-o.

Rodrigue
I had an occupational therapist from Thibodaux and recall her pronounce it as Rah-dreeg. I'm unaware of any other pronunciation. Any other?

Rod-reeg, row-dreg, rah-dreeg

I didn't read the whole thread, but Ortego is like that - nothing French about it (either Portuguese or altered spelling of the Spanish Ortega), but they consider themselves Cajun.

Know Rodrigues from Thibodaux and vacherie and they all pronounce it Ro-drig.
Fancy boys like George Rodrigue started churching it up to sound like rahd-reeg.
