Does car insurance cover something like that?

Yes.

Then the car insurer will sure lsunurse's homeowner's insurer to recover what it paid, and the car owner's deductible.

Why? What is the theory of negligence on the homeowner?

Bet 20 dollars, American, that this does not happen.

Sometimes, I wonder where posters come up with this information. Is it just something they hear someone else say, then repeat it?

She said it was already braced with wood supports. If the supports were rotten (or facially insufficient to prevent the fall), there could be negligence for failure to exercise reasonable care.

Well it is a lot easier and quicker than trying to learn something. and FTR, unlike you, I know next to nothing about insurance.

So, sounds like the homeowner was exercising reasonable care in bracing the cactus......which is protected.....and cannot be cut down. And it's stated that there was unusual rain, most likely soaked up into the cactus, causing it to become top heavy and fall (AKA Act of God).

Even if the supports were rotten, how is anyone going to prove that the homeowner had knowledge of the rot condition?

Anyway, my point is that when you make a definitive statement like you did, stating that the auto insurer will sue the homeowner's (not might, or possibly), misleads people in the way insurance actually works.

Since you're OT poor and only can wager a mere $20, I'm thinking he's gonna take the bet just to send a message that he makes more money than you. You should increase your wager to something like $10,000.00.

Monsoon weather in the summer is not unusual rain. It's known that it can rain a lot this time of year.

Also.....again....the cactus was my neighbor's cactus on HER yard that fell in HER yard on HER car.

Just to clarify again

Well my plan was to get him on the line, then insult him to get his ego involved and THEN get HIM to up the bet. Nurse just may have blown it for me though.

Still, an Act of God. Just like hurricanes are common in LA this time of year, but for Homeowner's insurance purposes, considered an Act of God, generally excluding liability against the policyholder.

Welp, there goes any theory of liability coverage. The only possible coverage then would be under the auto policy, and ONLY if there's full coverage. An auto policy for liability only would cover nothing in this event.

I smelled what you were cooking baw. I also actually looked at the pictures. Nurse's involvement was that she took a few pictures of the aftermath.

You were close.
