Buying Allergy medicine

Or any kind of OTC medication. Do you buy brand name or generic?
I'm pretty solid on generic brand stuff, I don't see it being less effective.
This is the first year I have had to buy allergy medicine and that crap is expensive.

Buy some of both, I start with the generic and if it works great, if it doesn't then I buy the brand name.

Always generic for any meds if they're available. I use generic loratadine (Claratin) and it seems to work well.

I usually start with the brand name. If it works, I try the generic. If the generic works just as well (usually does) then I stay with generic.

I've used both but generic Zyrtec works just as well for me.

Been using generic Claritin for a couple weeks. Allergies have been in check for the most part since. Only complaint is that it's a 24 hour pill, but I my eyes start itching badly some days about 10 hours after taking it. Still much better than before. Especially on days I cut my grass.

This year was a first for me too. I got Flonase and it worked

Most generic drugs are the exact same thing as their name brand counterparts.

I've suffered severe spring allergies for my whole life. I tried Flonase this year and it's the first thing I've ever taken that has really helped me. And I've tried almost everything.

then I found out, it was dairy.
I didn't want to believe it....I loved dairy, cheese on everything, ice cream etc etc
mmm, mmm, mmm.....bad bad bad
I quit dairy for 2 years, cuz it takes a while to buid up, and to reverse condidtions
in 6 months my symptoms started to subside

if you get curious, go to [ notdairy.com ] and look up allergies and the white paper references they have.
then I found out, it was dairy.

I compare the ingredients on the back of the box to make sure they are the same. If they are I buy the generic and save some $$$. I do the same with most everything I buy, but I am cheap.

Costco has a generic Zyrtec, not the D version, that is 365 pills for $30-40. I bought it a while back and works fine for me.

I start all my patients on fluticasone nasal spray (generic of Flonase) and cetirizine (generic of Zyrtec) and we work from there. Hope that helps
