re: Buying a new mattress: where should I go?

Think in these terms. How much did you spend on your last car? How much time a day do you spend in it?
How much time are you going to spend on that mattress?
It needs to give you a good enough night's sleep to allow you to wake refreshed (all other factors with you being ok), and it needs to be conducive to sex. Nothing more frustrating than a mattress that won't let you move around on it without major effort, or is too soft and you both just bury up in it and, again, restricts movement.

In all seriousness, this matters. All that stated above and the bounce. You'll appreciate it more when you experience not having it.

I bought my queen sized mattress and box spring off Amazon for no more than $300 total. I always sleep on my side and the foam/gel mattress always eventually cave near my hips and give me back pain though, so I bought a traditional spring mattress. I also bought a pillow-top mattress topper to put on top. So far, it's been my favorite setup.

Tempurpedic is the same price everywhere. You shouldn't even consider another mattress. It's one of the best things you can possibly invest in as you will use it every day of your life and it can directly change the way you feel each morning. Most places will throw in some free crap with it if it makes you feel better. $2300+ but worth every penny.

We returned our tuft and needle after two weeks. Worst sleep of my life, and I have two young kids.

this is my issue as well...never getting another pillow top or foam mattress...
pillow top topper on a regular mattress sounds like the way to go...

frick mattress direct. Particularly the mattress direct on carrolton and canal. I bought a plush mattress, they gave me the firm, and wouldn't exchange it. The lying scumbags them claimed I had wanted to but a firm.

Bought the luxury firm and it destroyed my back. Was gonna send it back and be done but decided to give the plush a go. The second mattress they brought me was pure shite in quality. I was actually impressed with how well the luxury firm was made but the next one was utter shite. They wound up refunding me and told me to donate the mattress. They have some weird reviews and complaints on the web

Big Lots- they have great prices for basically the same kind of mattress
I remember that they had a really "nice" king size Paula Dean memory foam mattress for a good price I thought about buying. Then her racist SHTF and it was a GREAT price. Never pulled the trigger. Should have.

Go see Billy at Wholesale Mattress, Tell him you want the top of the line. Tell him how you want it.
$1,000 for foam topped or $800 for plain.
Sketchy looking place but a good guy who makes a good mattress.
Bought my last two from him, the first about 20 years ago, about to buy another.
Just put my $1000 down on the hybrid mattress in the med-firm to firm range. Those who have it, how do you sleep? how's it for
