I guess they euthanized the gator for showing up the officers. It finished what they couldn't.

There was a similar situation, but with more immediate results, at a Miccosukee Indian place in SW Florida. Some a-hole was burglarizing cars in a parking lot at a store or restaurant on tribal land. Cops show up, so he jumps in a pond attempting to evade the police. He did, but he couldn't evade the 12' alligator that promptly ate his dumb arse.
