Get a Ring doorbell.
Like it or not, people are going to come to your house. It’s the best thing we’ve gotten. Well, that and the Arlo cameras.

Put the wiring in and get a couple of nest or ring doorbells.
Then you can see who is out there and decide if you want to get up. You can talk to the solicitors thru the mic. And tell them to frick off if needed.
