Build your grandchildren things
That’s the message I bring,
That’s the tale I want to tell,
The song I want to sing,
When you plant the seeds for those,
Who might never earn the shade,
Then the oaks might form a path,
Where we’ll find a future made,
‘‘Twasn’t rushing towards a bullet,
That that farmer plants the beech,
But the Apple there besides it,
Bears the fruit within their reach,
Every seed a forest,
For a unknown son,
There planted in the darkness,
For a race that’s still Unrun
For the orchards that would feed us,
Never grow if they’re not planted,
And the beam that holds the roof,
Was Once a sapling in the earth
The pecan within the pie,
That sits baked upon the table,
Only comes because a tree,
Was planted well before our birth,
A tower’s only built,
With a stone upon a stone
If it’s gazed on,
In a vacuum,
It would seem,
To stand alone,
But then you would not see the legs,
That had carried it,
And so,
Nor would you see the arms,
That hold aloft,
The futures throw.
