Mayor will pressure her hand picked police chief to fire them. Police union will sue the city for wrongful termination, City will settle and the officers will get paid. Sterling supporters are satisfied because officers were fired, officers and union are happy because officers can get out of BR with a check. Only loser is the taxpayers of Louisiana who will pay for the settlement as well as all the legal fees.

Does anyone think this was discussed / decided before she handed him the job?

No doubt about it. The "candidates" didn't get past the interview without agreeing to it. I'd be shocked if they don't fire them.

Well if that hinges on broome being smart well there goes that.

Every time she gets in front of a microphone I’m just in disbelief she was elected. Kip was a guy that truly wanted to make this city better. She’s a moron that has no fricking idea how to lead, speaks of unifying the city all while the rest of her words and actions alienate a large % of the city.

I'm pretty sure it will be handled by insurance, but that will eventually be costly too.

Fired for doing his job. Pathetic.

Yes and no. If he doesn't kill Sterling, albeit justified, he probably still has a job. That being said, both of experts om the use of force said Salamoni displayed poor and questionable tactics at various times during the stop. He'll likely be fired for breaking department policy.

Now we know that policy is only being enforced due to the circumstances, but it's not exactly fair to say he "did nothing wrong," at least per SOP.

The problem with the current chief he was a glorified highway patrol officer. They look at procedures and really do not see enough action to know anything. Great overpaid security officers for state politicians or traffic cops.

A city or sheriff’s deputy who works the inner city sees the worse of the worse all day long every shift.
Even a sgt on a decent size city police force would make a better chief than Murphy Paul. The reason they have the on the street experience and he does not.

Would you want to go on a call in diddonuffin part of town and have to have second thoughts about your moves. You will end up getting killed or your partner killed.

When Murphy Paul the political hack chief comes out to fire these officers he done as a leader. The other officers will start thinking should I follow a leader who is a political hack and does not stand up for us.

I would hate to be a BRPD officer working under a political hack of a chief that wants the officer to give 100% while not backing them up.

While true and SOP are there to help high stress situations, anyone in a gun situation will tell you there is only so much SOP that is expected to be followed. You can't expect a $35k a year person to not be stressed in that situation and do and say some minor things incorrectly.

Lastly, the report is the gun was pointed toward his head not at his head point blank. Big difference. Basically he pointed his gun so that sterling was staring down the barrel.

You know what, it actually freaking worked too. That's the only time all night that POS actually listened to someone. So sure all these libtards can say that he was too aggressive, but SOP did not work until he was more aggressive.

Please don't try and tell me that pointing the gun at his head and dropping the F bomb escalated the situation. Because that's laughable.

If someone pointed a gun at my head it sure would escalate the situation.

It was literally the only point when Alton complied. It wasn’t “someone”. It was a cop tellling him to stop fighting. And he did.

The point is, Alton wasn’t cooperating before the officer pointed the gun at him. In fact, that’s when he complied briefly until the officer holstered his weapon.

Know what else would escalate the situation?

Having meth, cocaine, alcohol, xanax and much more in his system. I'm sure he was no threat at all.

No, I'm just relaying what was in the Jeff Landry report. Two unbiased experts specifically questioned some of the tactics used by Salamoni, even though they thought his use of force was justified.

I don't want the man fired, but if two unbiased folks question him, he's probably fricked with Paul and Broome.
