Raising pay would go a looooong way. There are still plenty of people who would be cops but can't justify it.
As for anyone joining BRPD at this moment, they're absolutely insane. Go join LSUPD or a sheriff's department.

My mom is set to retire this year and my dad plans to retire in 2018. I'm doing my best to try to persuade them to join me in Texas, or move to the Atlanta area where my sister lives.
I love BR. It's my hometown and I have many fond memories of growing up there, but it's hard to believe that things will get better with Broome and her race baiters running the city.
I have friends in BR who have already started looking for jobs elsewhere.

Sadly, I'm sure this is what many of these cops are doing as well. BRPD is easy to get into, so they are having Baton Rouge pay for their training before lateralling to somewhere that doesn't drain you of hope in humanity. I don't blame them either.
