Before I comment, I'll need the OT to weigh in on whether the BB Crawfish Festival is trashy or not.

One of the best festivals in Louisiana..

I just can't imagine how this could even be remotely possible.

Officially, no. The city decided to only issue one permit for the festival a few years ago because it was too much of a strain on police resources to handle both.

Unofficially, some blacks have continued to chose to gather and party on their own property nearby.

I was a sheriff's deputy and worked both locations back in the late 90's and early 2000's.

Not a good festival. My parents got their car broken into last year by some "urban youths."

Sorry you were arrested for underage drinking. Or was it because there wasn't enough hair gel and affliction clothes there for you?

When the festival was both down town and in the park, the traffic around that area become increasingly scary bad. To the point of it becoming dangerous because emergency vehicles were basically useless if a fire or accident happened. Yes, that could've been planned out better but when you have "people" doing nothing but riding around the whole weekend it compounds the issue. Especially considering that these "people" were never looking to do anything but ride around..........
Regarding the "separate festivals", the city clamped down on the "black" festival because they (black festival) NEVER paid a dime of their portion for additional law enforcement being brought in to help direct traffic and police the area, or anything else for that matter. Absolutely ZERO!! They were given ample opportunities to pay their portion but the supposed profits always turned up missing and in turn the city was told "we didn't make any money" by the black festival representatives. In order for a "black crawfish festival" to ever be held again the representatives of that festival would have to come up with 10's of thousands of dollars in back pay to the city along with several more thousands upfront in order to cover their costs. So basically, that'll never happen.
