There has been an explosion on an eastbound District Line train at Parsons Green underground station in West London. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are aware of an “incident” at around 8:20am local time, at the height of the morning rush hour. The authorities are treating it as a terrorist incident.

I was just traveling on a train from Verona to Florence, Italy yesterday. That thing was doing 270 km/hr. Can't imagine the damage that could happen from a bomb on one of those things.

It appears to have been a pressure cooker in a 5 gallon bucket all hidden in a shopping bag. It also doesn't appear to have fully detonated, but did create a flash fire that sent 18 to the hospital. We'll know more as the morning progresses, but early indications are that London and those subway riders were lucky.
