Racism and oppression - those are outliers. Are there a few idiot holdouts who refuse to hire or promote a person based on race, gender, etc.? Sure. You know, "outliers." But when you look at the many millions of black people (and poor people and immigrants) who have prospered in this country by simply taking advantage of the opportunities available to everyone, it's clear that the problem isn't oppression or racism, not anymore, and that's a very good thing.
That people - black, white, yellow, red, brown, whatever - don't succeed in building a life for themselves is the fault of no one but themselves.

Just watched the press conference.
Female suspect was charged with capital murder. She was the driver. The Banks screaming I didn't do it probably didn't as he was charged with accessory after the fact.
Police are not handling the investigation. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (part of State police/DPS) is.

I'm not coming on strong. I'm just stating facts ... something Strongsafety can't do. He/she thinks from the heart. I think from the head using facts and figures. Stronsafety no longer replies to me. I pissed him/her off so bad in the original Ferguson thread that he/she created a new account and the first post was a rant attacking me. Sadly it got deleted. I wanted to copy it.
If a thread gets anchored because I submitted facts to back up points in discussion then so be it. Someone will start another thread some day, Weaksafety will start in with his/her Black Liberation Theology based statements and I will counter with facts and analysis again.
FYI I was keenly aware of the disparity between the black and white race back in the late 50's and 60's. I know change had to come. I know it still exists but a much lesser extent. I'm all for everyone reaching their potential, EVERYONE. ... but I won't sit by and listen to someone justify today's actions based on his perceived idea of oppression that no longer exists. At least most certainly to the extent it did up until the late 60s when the white man started working on it.
Now can we get a little attention to the plight of my people, the American Indian? Have you ever seen the desert the white man put my people in over in northeast part of Arizona? How about South Dakota and North Dakota? You want to see REAL and on going oppression of the previous owners of this nation that failed to protect it's borders?

Your people don't have to stay on the reservation, they have every single opportunity a black or white man has in this country.

Of course he would and I appreciate you not making excuses. I do know what your people have gone through, I actually live close enough to a reservation that I can throw a rock onto it, but today you guys have all of the same opportunities. One thing I do respect about Indians is that even though the average one is extremely poor they don't resort to theft and violence.

You played right into my hand. I hold no grudge for past actions or for today's conditions. Opportunities exist and I saw no barbed wire fences on those reservations.
As I see it the white man took over the country and improved it dramatically. The take over was hostile as most are. There was much mistreatment BUT that is history and this land, maybe even the world is better of for it. Most certainly my life is better off than it would have been if this land was still under American Indian rule.

There is still no reason given as why the officers stopped the three. I would like to know if the officers were able to return fire or were they caught completely off guard. There is a lot of information missing. Since it appears that it wasn't premeditated I wonder if it will make the national news.

It is very early in the investigation. Let the investigators look at the evidences and put it down in a report in a chronological order. It will take a couple of days to review video, tapes and talk to dispatchers, other officers, possible witnesses and the suspects.

Don't cut all be benefits these children need to eat. These women also need time to fine better alternatives for themselves and their children. Just knowing that benefits would run out or not go up would light a fire I guarantee.
