You are either in Montana (since Kron left LA during Covid) or West Monroe? If you are in WM, I used to a train with ya'll when I lived there back in 2018-19. Ya'll got some top shelf guys there.

I have been knowing John B even though he isn't with the school anymore since I started BJJ almost 20 years ago.

Yeah! I live in Monroe and I go to Kron in WM.

You’re right, there are some bosses there. The owner/instructor has been there a long time, but just recently bought full ownership from the previous owner. so I’m guessing that’s the one you worked out with.

Most people there are extremely nice and incredibly friendly. Everyone I speak to tells me we’re lucky to have it around here.

We also have a couple of good fighters around here who may get a UFC bid, soon. Two brown belts who basically submit everyone they fight.

Yeah I know Jonathan too. He got his BB from John, the previous owner. I think there was some drama there but that's another story. I've had some really awesome rolls with Jonathan. He was a Brown when I trained up there. Awesome guys. You are very fortunate to have access to that level of instruction and Kron maybe the best there is outside of his dad and his uncles. I am under Royler btw. There is another school over in Monroe that has some good guys too. North Monroe BJJ I think is their name. They are a Pedro Sauer school. They were at the MAC when I was there.

Jonathan is a great dude and he’s a great instructor. I did hear a little bit about the drama, but not many details. That’s really cool that you know the gym. I’m still a white belt and have been going for about 8 months, but I love it.

I used to work at the MAC, btw. If your username is your initials, I’m pretty sure I remember you! I used to work the early morning opening shift. Young white guy with a beard.

9mm >>> Brazilian JuJitsu

Pull a gun in a lot of encounters, go directly to jail. You realize that there are a lot of force options between no force and lethal force? If you don't understand that, do yourself a favor, pack up the 9mm and take some BJJ.

Those guys are/were an affiliate of the school I trained at in Hburg. Small world.

Yep, that's my initials. I think I remember you too. Also I was one of the few Bama homers up there which could have been another clue. I fit in like a turd in a punchbowl in Monroe. Stay with it. You are probably gonna be a Blue Belt soon and then you will fall into that Blue Belt lull. Most people tend to drop BJJ once they get to Blue because the biggest hurdle is the jump from Blue to Purple.

My 20 y/o son has been doing Jiu Jitsu for around 10 years. He’s on the spectrum and hasn’t gone up in belts like others that have been doing it just as long. He’s a blue belt I think with 2 or maybe 3 stripes. Has done so well for him, he’s never had to use it but got bullied bad prior, being in it gave him so much confidence and bullying stopped. My youngest son does judo but he’s more concerned with football and fishing and sucks at judo.

You bust up in my house and you’re lucky to only get shot with a 9mm.

Why in these scenarios does the person that knows “random martial arts” doesn’t own weapons too?

Man, that is a long time to dedicate to something. Is it safe to assume that you are a black belt?

You really have to check if you go to a sport oriented place with butt scooters and guard pullers or a place that teaches self defense and striking too.
