I think they’re shutting down streets a little earlier this year. Can someone confirm?

They shutdown the roads pretty early last year. I was surprised.

I grew up in a house on Reymond Ave., which the street directly over the overpass from Ivars/Merchant.

Its funny because that area of homes is not trashy at all, in fact the opposite, but a lot of white trash show up for the parade.

Still a blast to watch it over there because of the bar scenes. That's the place to be if you're young and trying to get fricked up. Schlitz is fun, Ivars is fun, Merchant I'm will be fun (though I've never been there that day), Zippys is fun, etc.

It's the best day in BR. Especially when it comes to people watching.

Merchant is a good time for sure.

I saw Ivars is doing a cover charge this year, which I don’t recall in the past. I miss the Chelsea’s days. They had the big backyard open so it was spacious and laid back.

I want to say Schlittz is no longer doing the big party, but I could be wrong.

It really is awesome.

Riding on floats in that parade is the best too. Its so casual, you can just jump off when you want, and vice versa.

One year I jumped off to go shite at my house, cut through a neighborhood, and jumped back on

missing another year with a new born

Missed two years ago for the same reason. We went last year with our little one and it was extremely different from the "black out" years prior!!!

I want to get a sitter and get shitfaced but the SO is breastfeeding our 1 month old plus she doesnt want to leave him yet.

If we go, then we have to bring our little one's which sounds like a lot of work

ZZ's was so awesome... went you wanted to get a break from the madness, they really never had a crowded bar. It was nice to step in for a beer and shot, take a second to get out of the sun\rain

disappointed that I am on the driver side of our float this year. It's hard to beat throwing a 6' stuffed snake at the overpass and watching grown men fight for a stuffed animal

It's an unwritten rule that our group saves the best beads for the overpass. It's amazing what the hotties will do for a bead

100%.

Throw all the shitty ones to kids in the neighborhood and have the best stuff for the drunk women (and trashy men that fight for them) at the Overpass.

Also, we always have so many leftover we're just purging full bags of them by the end

Yeah, honestly it can get way too crowded. I'd gladly pay a cover.

Hence why they are no longer

Even when thousands of drunk people surround their establishment, their bar remained uncrowded

Never understood why Duvic’s doesn’t get more business on St. paddy’s day. It seems like it’s ivars, Merchant, schlitz and giggles and uncle earls that are getting the crowds.

Because its a dark smokey hole with weird regulars.

Those other places are a lot more lively usually.

ETA:

And I like Duvics for that reason. Its a calm spot to have a drink and not be overwhelmed by people.
