I'm dumbfounded by this whole thing. If that was my neighborhood, I would be ecstatic if there were a proposal to remove an interstate exit directly into my neighborhood. Who wants an interstate exit in their neighborhood

If you take anything away from them they will feel slighted. It doesn't matter what it is. The hundreds of millions that will be spent by adding a left exit is simply to reduce the cries of racism.

Who wants an interstate exit in their neighborhood? I understand that these people won't pass up an opportunity to claim racism, but this is completely illogical.

Not to mention, the Old South BR coalition (which I haven't heard much from in the last 5+ years) used to complain that the interstate construction was the catalyst for the demise of the neighborhood.

it might be phase 1 of a larger master plan to address the issue. first they relocate the exit, making room for the additional lane in the next project. they could have also left the exit in its present location and extended the outside lane. exits do that all the time...they don't HAVE to drop a lane like this one. but that would have required also relocating the washington street entrance ramp to make room for that new lane. since the exit will be gone, they may also be removing that entrance ramp and using the right of way for the new lane in the future...or i'm just giving them way too much credit.

You're giving them way too much credit. They will take the money, study the project, find out it costs more than they were given, study about some more, bitch, get more money , study it some more, find out it costs more money than they were given, study about it some more, bitch...

You would think they'd know something about how to manage traffic as much as they study it.
