It's a stupid law. I bet you never had a beer before 21 either right?

I was actually just thinking about this the other day. Do y’all ever think they’ll vote to do away with inspection stickers? Not many states still have them. Could they at least get better quality ones that don’t lose their stick after sitting in the sun?

They either lost a lawsuit or lost their grant money.. or both.
There used to be a checkpoint in EBR every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night back in the 2010-2014 time frame.
You’re right. Not sure what it was, but something surely happened.

Thanks for the information, my friend.
This is the kind of thing that drives me crazy. As you point out, we have major crime problems in some sections of the city, yet the police department sees fit to allocate the scarce resource of officer time to monitor whether someone is rolling through a stop sign on a street where I suspect there has never been an accident for that violation? It is good to know that the BRPD is so flush with resources that it can send officers to cover that major crime spree of rolled-through stop signs and expired inspection stickers in the Jamestown/Bennington area. Clearly they have more-than-enough resources--so much that supporting tax increases to fund the BRPD is not necessary.

Y’all know state police gets a portion of every inspection sticker. So every time they see a car without one or with an expired one, that’s money in their pocket..

Thanks for enabling unsafe vehicles, baw. When somebody's wheel falls off on the bridge, don't bitch about sitting in traffic for four hours
There are several states that don't even use inspection stickers AKA Brake Tags.

Per Louisiana case law it's illegal for law enforcement to set up checkpoints for the explicit or exclusive purpose of DUI investigations. It has to be for administrative purposes such as checking for valid license, Brake Tags, registration and insurance.
There are also other requirements such as signage and planning. Very often the checkpoints are illegal but people don't ever fight it in court so they continue.

They minimally prevent crime. Their best use is directing traffic and they frick that up after LSU games. I cannot think of a more shitty government agency than them. If they were paid based on performance then we could lower taxes.
Until Louisiana law enforcement( I have no problems with the state troopers those guys usually pretty great) start acting right and respecting the Constitution they took an oath to uphold, Ive voted down every single millage ever proposed for police and Sheriff funding. And I don't even pay property taxes.
Take that copper!

It’s not just Law enforcement. It’s from the top down. Corruption is just as big a part of Louisiana culture as Mardi Gras.. sad truth.
