Only issue I see is if they want to charge different prices depending on how far you go on the train.

Easily solved with the threat of transit cops doing in car checks once you are rolling.

You can always roll the dice and hope you aren't caught.

What reasons are they not behind the transit plan?

The rich people don't want to connect their neighborhoods to the poor people.

So just being robbed in general. I'm right there with you man.

Criminals take advantage of opportunity. Thats all I'm really saying. Plus, NOLA doesn't have the best track record in being able to police, a mid sized city.

Who the frick wants to sit on a train for 3 hours instead of driving?

I will. All the time. No driving, no dealing with pricks on the road, no having to watch speed and look for cops. I can drink and eat and walk about the train. I can read, work, etc.

Baton Rouge hasn't changed in 30 years and feels like no one there wants it to other than "less taxes".

So why the frick are you doing this?

I've been weighing the pros and cons of moving back to Baton Rouge from Nashville for a couple years now and this would be a big "pro" for my wife and I.

Not enough to sway us, but certainly would be a good thing about Baton Rouge when weighing options.

You’re crazy.

The one from Nola to BR is being billed as "high speed rail", too. So, that's still a minimum of 110-125mph.

The KCS track goes through chemical plants. I can't see a train blasting through a plant at 125mph

Speak for yourself man. I’d rather suck it up and have an extra hour and a half to do what I want, and I’ll have my vehicle instead of being stranded somewhere.

So, you don't want it built out of unfounded fears.

Seems logical.

This is just hysterical.

Do criminals regularly rob Amtrak trains going from NOLA to Hammond? What about the ones that go west? Or to Hattiesburg? Is there an outbreak robberies and crimes on Amtrak trains?

I mean... yes... someone is going to rob a crowded train on the reg and then have to wait 30 minutes to get off of it.

I get that many of you hate NOLA and BR... I wish y'all would just stay off the O-T. Keep your defeatist whiny attitudes for the Score Board.

I don’t think it’s unfounded. Currently the public transit system in Louisiana is mostly used by sketchy characters and bums except around LSU.

Crime would probably be #312 on why I don't want it built.

Listen, weiner coat, I never said I was worried about the train being robbed. I don't live in the fricking 19th century.

Why don't you go sit on a cactus and rotate?

Sweet 8 lb 6 oz Baby Jesus this is stupid.

Pretty much every weekend in the spring and fall, the streetcars in NOLA are filled to the brim with locals and tourists heading to and from festivals, etc.

Maybe you have the occasional "sketchy" character riding the bus in New Orleans East at 3 am.

He means the rogue bands of criminals taking the train to Laplace to wait all day and rob commuters coming home. Then they take the train back to NOLA. All in a days work.

Just stop. It is useless trying to explain a commuter train vs metro bus. They are the same in the minds of the SQWs.

Then WTF do you mean by "criminals take advantage of opportunity"????

Or "sketchy people use public transit"

And WTF is a "weiner coat"? I've been called many names, that's a new one.

No thanks on sitting on the Cactus... I didn't go to Jesuit.

Thousands of people take streetcars and buses in NOLA on a daily basis to get to and from work. Is it always on time? No..

Nola had 11 million tourist in 2017. I wonder how many BR had. It’s silly to think that someone who lives in EBR would not be for this—here’s a reason for someone to visit BR for a day or two. If you travel the world you would know a majority of foreigners has heard or Nola but you get a lot of blank stares when you mention BR.

Also, would help the stops between for easier access to plantations and swamp tours.
