How in the world would the museum ALLOW that painting to be so close to the visitors without being protected.....the museum should be sued negligence, if they don't own the painting.

Am I the only one who thinks he tripped on purpose trying to be funny? Or as part of a dare to touch the painting?
Watching the video over and over it doesn't appear he tripped on anything and does appear to be on purpose. If he did trip by accident he would have put his hand down on the rope and/or stand. There was no reason to go into the painting as it happened so slowly (not some dramatic crash) he could have went anywhere else but there.

Had a friend pulling an overnight detail at a museum in NOLA and was getting some final instruction from the museum. He asked what was the most valued piece and the guy refused to tell him. So my friend asked again, but more direct. IF THIS WHOLE PLACE WAS ON FIRE,WHICH frickING PIECE WOULD YOU WANT ME TO SAVE FIRST! The guy pointed and said this one right here.

Am I the only one confused on how he "stumbled"?
Doesn't trip over his own feet. Doesn't even hit the little table thing separating the painting from the onlookers. Just falls

1.) it's not destroyed
2.) The purpose of an art museum is to display art, not warehouse it. It's not feasible to have every piece protected from a freak accident. You could walk into the Smithsonian Art Museum today and easily damage priceless works of art if you felt the urge.

He looks up at the canvas, shown later to have a fist-sized gash at the bottom, and freezes, looking around at other people in the room.

How do they allow you to get that close to it with a soft drink in your hand
I've never seen any quality art museum allowed food or drink in the display area, or not have the painting protected from the crowd.

That's almost as funny as when the two idiots tried to Super Glue the beard back onto the King Tut mask.
That went about as well as one would expect.
