42 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities occurred in 2014. Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 700 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 64% (27) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 6% of the total U.S. dog population.
Based on this, less than .0001% of the pitbull population was at fault. That is a very small percent to be worried enough to ban all those dogs.

I know when I left Nola last year, come didn't seem to be going down. A lot of random, violent attacks were occurring regularly in what were very expensive areas. It was so bad, my friends used to call Marigny "the hunting grounds"
I really hope it is getting better, and not have so much gentrification, the city becomes as boring as the rest of America.
How did this thread get off topic in the first place? I thought this was supposed to be a fight between knowledgeable dog lovers, and sheep that allow the media to manipulate them with fear for the sake of ratings (except for the poor guy whose great aunt was killed. I'm really sorry to hear that. You have every right to feel the way you do. I just believe that the person who owned those dogs was at fault. I think the same thing would've happened if that owner had any one of hundreds of breeds of large dogs or a large mutt. The owner might have even been a good person. But unfortunately, they were a bad dog owner and/or trainer.)

hard to stay on topic when some posters were in here arguing for 5+ hours straight. thats pretty sad in itself

Right. Because you've never had a slow day and posted for 5 hours.

That's when I make 95% of my posts. To kill time at work. And with has been slow as hell lately.
But yeah, I'd have lost interest his ago too.

Tell me about it, been sitting in my truck watching brush we cleared from a R.O.W. so we can demo this bridge burn. Gotta do something to make the time pass.

I dont think ive ever posted for 5-6 hours straight in a thread like this. Let alone a thread where this is my mindset
Sad.

It's cool Jones. I'm really not concerned with you. At all.

I get what you are saying, crime is down across the US, It's not where I live. So we can all agree, or agree to disagree. In my particular situation, I believe my child is less safe outside by himself than I was at that age, That's really all I was going for.

I am sorry for your aunt's death and your loss but your analogy and reasoning is petty and poor. If your aunt were killed by a white male would u hate all white males? Would you smile every time a white male were in trouble or hurt? Please don't be predjudice in any shape or form. Give everything and everyone a chance.

In reality....the kid likely fell while he was going over and it triggered the dogs instinct to pounce on wounded/vulnerable prey. Even though the dog probably recognized the child, it was not entering accompanied under supervision of the dogs owner. Big territorial trigger there for an overly aggressive breed like a pit. Dog flipped its shite like that breed is known to do when triggered. The kid is probably alive today if that was any other popular breed than a pit.

While these numbers don't necessarily mean that we should make p. Bulls extinct, they are nonetheless interesting. Are these accurate? Can anyone confirm these?
The numbers are what is needed. The rest of this is bull shite.
I do think p bulls are very dangerous. On the other hand, running around the lakes every day I usually pass two or three being walked. And they don't bother me.
But I'd shoot one in a flash if it was loose and looked at me funny. May be irrational. I'd like to know if any other numbers exist.
What the frick I wrong with just having an Australian Shepard or border collie? Lol. Or German Shepard even? Beautiful dogs.
I also think pit bulls are likely stupid but I admit I have no proof. I bet there's numbers on that too somewhere? Relative scale of dog iq's. I bet they are like, like, -- as smart at birds or algae.

Funny thing-- I was searching for pit bull iq's and didn't find anything but I did find statistics on income and iq's or pit bull OWNERS and that shite looks like Lenny from of mice and men.
Just get a beagle.

Ok now this thread is getting right. We have a few numbers on pit bull attacks above, and we need more but it's a good start.
Here is the real deal tho, and holy shite:
Dog iq's by breed-- pitbulls last out of all, essentially zombie dogs.
Yall study that and lets find a few more numbers on the pitbull attacks and I think we will know the answer about whether this is a viable breed or deserves the ashbin.
What's with getting a lab? Or even a doxen? Actully doxens should probably also be illegal but for other reasons related to their similarity to ferrets. But they won't kill anyone. Just make u loose friends. Lol.

We don't need McDonalds either and have the highest percentage of obesity in this country. So should they ban McDonalds and other fast food restaurants? Aren't you sick of rights being taken away from us? With freedoms comes responsibility. These accidents are happening b/c of the humans involved. They are t being responsible. Punish everyone b/c of the small group who can't get it together is no Bueno.

Good point. Think I'm going to go out and get myself a pet tiger.
(ETA: I love how the dude has it on a leash as though he could stop it from doing anydamnthing it wants)

You are right. This is 100% the same. Solid argument.

The fatalities are occurring because of the breeds' tendencies.
