Anyone have experience hoisting these things?

You are going to need a chain and nylon webbing sling with 2-tons load capacity rating. You're also going to want to wrap a blanket around the mattress so you don't scratch the finish on it.

Rent a crane to lift to the balcony. Make sure you have ropes tied to the webbing so you can guide it into position.

Always wear a hardhat.

Planned on getting another queen, but I've never owned a king size before and decided to try it out. Hell, I didn't even think about the extra expense of having to have new sheets, blankets, pillows (wife said that we had to have king size pillows now, fml), and even a new frame.

In other words, I really didn't think this all out.

there was no balcony and none of the windows were big enough, so she ended up giving it away.

Fold the mattress like a taco. Secure it with a strap. Carry it up the stairs.

Wear a helmet too, everywhere you go

Had a similar situation happen to us with us having a 90 degree turn in our stairwell. Unfortunately we did not have a balcony to get the mattress up and over so we had to take the mattress back to the store and get one that split into 2 sections so that we could get it to the bedroom.

If all else fails with the balcony, I'd see if you can swap out the standalone mattress for one that splits into 2 pieces.

Edit: It's early and I'm higher than giraffe pussy. We did this with the box spring, not the mattress.

Fail on my part.

I had this problem in college with a loft bedroom. Nour window big enough either. Was able to squeeze the mattress in, but box spring was impossible.

I had them deliver my mattress to our town home. You come in the door and go strait up into the master. Before they got here I knew one of them was going to ask to use my bathroom. I thought to myself, this isn't a gas station and I don't want them pissing all over my toilet seat.

They showed up late and two black guys fall out of the truck. They bring in he frame and box springs and wouldn't you know it the guy goes, can I use your bathroom. I said no but there is a gas station right up the street. I go outside and he's pissing on my shrubbery instead. I shook my head and said wtf. They try to bring my mattress in and it wont fit. I said bend the some bitch and it will fit. Low and behold I still have it with me today.

I'm terrible and dangerous at forklifting so I let others do it. I've seen some forklifting mastery several times by some expert forklift drivers that truly amazed me how they were able to do what they did.

Yep hole in roof with a crane is the only logical answer here, it's simple science

Saw it in half, then glue it back together once you get it up to the room.

The only two reasons that you get a king size bed is one for your kids and the other so that you can be in the same bed with your wife and it fell like she's not there.

Something tells me it would have wound up on that mattress anyway, even if the shrub pisser didn't put it there.

Yeah, the box springs aren't the problem. There's two of them and they will fit up the stairs.

Problem is the 160 pound gigantic fricking mattress. Guess I'll run to Lowes and invest in some rope and pulleys.
