Screw these parents. Then move to Shreveport and let your kids learn about Culcha. Saying a prayer at a public school is not illegal and is harming no one.

Try reading the whole OP. It was more than just a prayer.

I read it. I have two kids in Bossier schools and a wife that teaches in Bossier. Schools are excellent and neither of my kids has been scarred by their experiences.

As someone who doesn’t believe, it bothers me none that it is in school. Almost all of my successful friends in S LA went to private religious school (many are no longer religious), I think the Christmas programs are really cute and well done.

It just doesn’t bother me for some reason. If you get really butt hurt about it then maybe your type of atheism is religion-like and we should be keeping it out of school.

I grew up in a very religious environment for many many years. I have never heard anyone say anything like this.

I just couldn’t imagine sending my kids to a school that promotes Christianity. Love your neighbor? Treat other people how you want to be treated? Don’t kill them? Don’t steal their shite? Dont boink their wives? You could really screw a kid up by teaching them this type of thing.

It is my experience the second they stop teaching Christian values they start promoting big government. As a non-believer I would rather explain to my kids that religion is BS.

Fictitious things should be learned outside of the public educational system

I’m not taking the side of these loonbag teachers, but this is wrong.

Do y’all also think students shouldn’t read fictitious stories like The Odyssey?

Even as a Christian I believe many of these examples goes against separation of church and state. Take all these examples and change them to another religion and see how different the responses in here would be.

There is a time and place to profess your faith to others. When you teach public school....by accepting that job you have agreed that is not the time and place and should respect that.

I think you can totally let your students know that your faith is a huge important part of your life...without making them do schoolwork based on your faith.

One Bossier choir director said she won't allow the choir to perform in venues other than churches. School choir concerts include songs that are almost exclusively Christian worship songs.

A Kingston Elementary teacher required her students to memorize a Christian prayer and recite it before lunch.

A Legacy Elementary teacher developed a daily practice of asking her students what they wanted to pray for. The teacher then led the class in Christian prayer.

At Airline High, the health teacher told students about the importance of religion in her life. She used Christian-themed films to teach students about alcohol, drugs, dating violence and unsafe sex. She asked students their favorite Bible verse and asked an openly Muslim student to read aloud from the Bible.

A science teacher at Airline invited students to make a presentation on the "Creation point of view." She then directed the class in a reading of Genesis and supplemental material debunking various aspects of evolution.

A teacher told a child that Jesus was angry at those who did not attend church, and that non-Christians are bad people.

Bossier Parish Schools allowed representatives of local churches to encourage students to participate in religious activities and to distribute religious materials on campuses during the school day.

Some of these are going to hurt Christ's Kingdom more than help.

Bossier is my 'hometown'.

I know this may sound completely crazy, but what if the teachers just obeyed the law?

Likely more aggressive about professing/pushing their faith on others.

Hmm that’s interesting...seems to me that Atheists are more aggressive these days about pushing their agenda on everyone else. They’ve got to be the unhappiest group on the planet....and Uber sensitive too. Lol!
I used to be Catholic now SoBaptist & I’ve never heard or been taught that Jesus is angry @ nonbelievers. Quite the opposite actually.

No it’s not. The US has no official religion.

70% of this country is Christian. They pay the majority of money that goes to public schools. The constitution of the United States says Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion. Public schools should have the right to teach religion. Nobody is forcing beliefs onto children. Each child has the right to listen and can choose to believe or not. The same way each child does this for history class, etc.

If you don’t like religion in public schools then homeschool your child or start a private school that is religion free funded by atheists. Funny how I see all these religious high schools and universities all throughout the country and have never heard of an Atheist school. Maybe that is because this is a Christian country.

Islam also forbids the teaching of Chrisanity in their schools and forbids it in general. If you don’t living in a country that is 70 % Christian then move to the Middle East.

Public schools should only teach religion from a historical or political context. This really shouldn't be hard to understand.
