Bosses of TD, a question about raises

Is it easier to approve an extra week or two PTO or an extra 2 to 5% increase in wage?
Can someone negotiate PTO on top of a raise or is that something that you can't control it's just the dollar amount when and whom

Easier? 2-5% wage increase. Why would you pay someone the same amount to be there less? Seems counter-intuitive but maybe I'm an idiot.

You'll get more money before more PTO. PTO is strict, usually governed by HR alone.

all of this varies by company. I know my boss does PTO off the books all the time for his team. We will get 2 days off for working hard on a project or something.
he has no control over raises.

Employers (kinda sorta) have to offer the same amount or at least the same structure of PTO to their employees.
It is easier to just pay you for missing more time time if you have a decent amount of redundancy within the organization but everyone else will find out your deal and then want the same two more weeks of vacation.
That doesn't work.
Just get the additional money.

PTO, in my experience is in the employee handbook, decided by directors of the company. Salary/pay can be adjusted and argued based on work experience/performance/years of service.

Just go into IT at LSU and take off 6 months at a time. They don't care.

Ask for the raise, but have some basis for them to pay you more. Also be prepared to have them show you the door. Don't bring up PTO. I don't think you are going to be in a bargaining position. Good luck.
