It’s especially funny bc I’m old enough to remember this exact same talk about Millennials when they hit the workforce while I was in HR.

Yes, but they hit reality and most were trainable. This last bunch won’t let me retire…

I don't know, man. I'm 45. I didn't learn shite in college other than how to drink heavy and chase women. I learned everything I know once I actually got my foot in the door in a position related to my major and have done it at three very large companies for the past 20 years. You have to come in and be willing to learn. I don't remember sitting in any comprehensive training program coming up through the ranks. I just watched, listened and did shite until I got good at it.

The millennials and Gen Z have brought some good things to the table, like the ability to wear nice jeans, tennis shoes and a blazer to meetings without people even batting and eye at it.

A hidden part of this is that technology is replacing the need for entry level white-collar workers. Technology can synthesize and aggregate data, which used to be a large component of the workflow of young staffers.

My first job in insurance was stacking claims and policy data into Excel. It's how I learned the business. Now no one has that job. We have software to do that.

Also, yes, this generation is worse than the one preceding it.

Gen Z will become trainable, too. Living with the parents will get old and the bills will hit hard. Then they, too, will be forced to live and work in the real world.

It’s simply a matter of maturity and responsibility. Some generations have had more delayed introductions to those principals than others. Millennials were softer than Charmin when they hit the job market. Gen Z will get there, too.

You’d have to eliminate attorneys first. But then everyone else would have to listen to and deal with all the petty bs so it wouldn’t hurt my feelings

100% correct, the majority of the bitching about my line of work that's done on here, and I am very familiar with, can all be traced back to attorneys

There isn’t one for most people. Unless you’re going to be a lawyer or a science field, you’re far better off going to trade school. Baby Boomers created a shite show of an education system for their kids and grandkids. Now there’s a major gap of professionals who can do actual labor.

Boomers are easily the most damaging generation this country has seen. Their kids didn’t help anything either.

So you’re telling me a generation of students that started college as soon as Covid happened and cheated their way through university on BS online classes aren’t ready for the real world??

And we are supposed to think this is news??

Well, manufacturers can take a lot of blame in your industry, too, these days. Provide less for more money. Less oversight, less testing, less training.

Classes have been back in person since recent graduates started college. The students that really got boned are like 2-3 years into their career

Or the government becoming too friendly with a necessary industry and abdicating responsibility. All this while the industry moves away from engineer based management to sales based.

What could go wrong?

Own it bub.

The generation graduating HS now are bringing us back now that the boomers are dying off. Not a coincidence
