Just finished the new Neal Stephenson - Seveneves.

Some interesting ideas in it, weak on character development, though. Stephenson is one of my favorites but this isn't among his very best. Still solid, though, if you like Stephenson.

Late to the party, but I'm just starting American Sniper. I have The Gold Standard waiting for me next.

Yep.

It's about time to read it again. I grew up in ky and remember everything going on with alydar, but I had no clue they started out with Standardbreds, and was pretty young to know all the financial details.

One of few nonfiction books I actually like.

Just finished Rebel Yell: The Violence, Passion, and Redemption of Stonewall Jackson by S. C. Gwynne

Excellent book, well-researched. And I learned a lot of things not just about Stonewall but about the Civil War in general from it.

Heartily recommend it!

That's a great book. Since you liked that one, you ought to check out Empire of the Summer Moon, also written by SC Gwynne.

I'm reading Ruanaidh. It's about the Rooney family that owns the Steelers. Primarily about Art Sr. but mentions a lot of other friends and relatives.

Nearing the end of "NYPD Red" and it's one of those books that you can absolutely see being made into a movie... solid plot, interesting dialogue...

I'm like 8/10 picking them

I read this book at least once a year. Keeps me on track after being a total disaster with money in my 20s.

Halldor Laxness- independent People

Only Icelandic novel to win the Nobel Prize for literature, started reading it when I was there... It's mindnumbing
