It's the same in NOLA. I10 has been in some form of construction between Vets and Metaire Park for at least a decade.

All part of progress. At least they haven't just thrown in the towel like LA and said frick it.

Have you seen the construction on LA 73 from US 61 to I-10? Dear God.

47% done. Wow, it's been 3 years? I haven't taken the road in that timespan and guess I won't until 2017.

, they will be simultaneously working on the intersections of Louisiana/St. Charles, Napoleon/St. Charles, and Jefferson/St. Charles all summer
Wtf? Who lets them do this? Basically shuts down one of the most famous streets in New Orleans for a few months

It's bullshite though, it basically stops the three main ways that people who live uptown get to CBD. How is this a good idea?

I guess it is like pulling off a bandaid, all at once. Instead of 3 years it is all done in 1 year.

Might have some sort of contingency to still allow 4 way traffic. Just restricted.

This is the reason. The work has to get done. Why prolong it? Tourism, and to an extent the entire city, slows down in the summer heat, so it's a good time to do it.

I'm just annoyed that I'll have to drive down St. Charles to get to work, that shite is terrible in the mornings

Starting June 2, crews will begin building a box culvert beneath the St. Charles streetcar tracks at Jefferson, Napoleon and Louisiana avenues, which could cause traffic headaches. Crews will work on each of those main Uptown intersections at the same time.

The three intersections will have important lane closures during construction.

The Army Corps of Engineers says there will be only Northbound traffic on Jefferson Avenue at St. Charles Avenue.

On St. Charles Avenue, two-way traffic will shift to either side of the tracks, depending on construction.

Napoleon and St. Charles will each be down to one lane at that intersection.

And St. Charles Avenue will be down to one lane at Louisiana Avenue, with temporary two way lanes on Louisiana shifting around construction.

It's all slated to last through Aug. 30.

I'm annoyed too, and have been for a while. I take my bike whenever I can as Jefferson and Napoleon have screwed me on getting to and from work. St. Charles is a clusterfrick during peak travel times, and the Jefferson and Napoleon work make it difficult for me to get up to Claiborne.

I live a few blocks off of Louisiana and usually use it to get to Claiborne in the mornings. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when this clusterfrick happens. I guess I'll have to take Mag or something, because I don't see myself sitting in traffic on St. Charles every morning. That, or I'll just have to work from home.
