Body found on Venice Beach identified as former WWE Star Shad Gaspard

Gaspard went missing last Sunday after he went swimming with his 10-year-old son, Aryeh.
The boy was rescued and several other swimmers made it out of the water safely.

Nope. Friends of mine almost lost 4/5 people swimming in Florida one day.
fricking lifeguards with the jet skis were on point and got everyone out.
Lifeguard told him the rip he saw that day he thought everyone in the water would have died. My buddy said even the lifeguards were shook up.
My buddy said he'd never been so exhausted in his life he couldn't move on the beach to get to anyone. His father in law looked at him in the water and told him goodbye and he sorry and to take care of his daughter. They were able to save him too.
Two people down the way from them died later that day not listening to the warnings.

When I was in New Zealand, those surfers and beach people handled massive rips like it was nothing. Everyone knew how to spot them, and how to ride them out without much incident. They didnt do anything, they would simply let the tide carry them out 100-200 yards sometimes then just come back in

3 days in the water? Dang I gotta feel like that body was in terrible shape?
ETA: Riptides are no joke but you just gotta know how to act in them. Most of the ones in Florida you can feel before you get over your waste in water depth.

it just seems like fighting a riptide is somehow even more mental than physical... and I'm not trying to demean that physical aspect
if you can keep your head and realize what's going on you would seem to have a good chance of getting out of it alive
but panic and you're done for
