I agree with this... I could run 89 or 93 in the prelude but it seems to run rich... I don't see a reason to run anything but 87 in my 2013 car...

Do you really think anyone who lives around there gives a frick about $.60 more? I don't live in Bocage and I would fill up there and not think twice.

Detergents have nothing to do with octane requirements.

They are both needed for different reasons.

I understand that. My point is that Techron is in all three levels of gas. No need to buy a higher octane rating to get something that can be had in all of the levels of gasoline. The "Premium" title is a misnomer for most engines.

Correct, performance is all that will be affected by lowering the octane. Assuming you are driving a car that was built to run on higher octane.

Damage will be negligible or absent in almost all normal road vehicles when using less than recommended octane rating.
