could never give up my boat. I fish over 150 days a year and then probably 30 days on top of that for cruising and anchoring at a beach.

If you use it that much you are definitely getting your worth out of it

Damn they are the most important thing that I want to spend money on and truly are the greatest gift I’ll ever “own.”

whole home generator

Best thing I ever did. Power went out during an ice storm earlier this year. Temp hovering around 0 F at night. We never missed a beat. Power was out almost 6 days

Explain how a whole home generator is an option as a big waste

In the 8 years I’ve been in my house, I think I’ve been out of power for 7 hours total. And if I am out for an extended amount of time, I’m going on vacation

I want a boat so bad but I know I won't use it as often as I should to get my money's worth. though I also tell myself that if I do get a boat, maybe I'd use it a lot more than I would now, as in going to the boating places. And I'm more of a saltwater fisher than an freshwater fisher. And I live like 3 -4 hrs away from the saltwater. But I wouldn't actually want to take her out into the real ocean, just the tidal creeks/rivers, bays and sounds. So for that, I think a smaller boat would suffice but still gonna be a decent chunk and then the upkeep gonna keep on keeping on. My brother is in the same boat, so maybe us going in half on one together would be more reasonable as we usually go saltwater fishing together anyway (family trips).

Fished Fri-Sun. Had a ball and it’s been out damn near every other weekend so far since mid April. Keep it in a stack storage and love the convenience.

On top of that, I’ve been entertaining clients……6+ hrs of a good time and cold beer. Valuable consulting tool.

I lose it 1-2 times a month. I love how people judge something is a waste for everyone from their little bubble

A waste in whose mind? What a retarded question. If you use it and get joy out of it, it isn’t a waste for you. Stop worrying about other people’s shite.

This is correct.

The vacation part if we are out again.

Dude, when you are miserably hit while without power following the next hurricane, at least a pool will keep you cool. But a home generator will keep you cool and provide microwave popcorn.

Of course, Aug 29, 2005 that boat not too shabby.

We had a huge tornado hit Little Rock about half mile from the house in '23 that shut off power in our neighborhood for like 13 days, which was small fries compared to all the homes that were destroyed. Anyways that thing came in clutch.

Also had a bad ice storm at the end of '21, our first year in the house, and that had power off for a few days.

We have an auto switch on our so it boots on automatically, so we've never been out of power for more than 10 seconds. I actually highly recommend one.

Resale on the boat will be much better than the home with a pool addition. I made 10% on my last boat. Paid cash for the one i have now.
