I swear if Blake Lively tells these people to lighten up and F off, I will see every movie she makes from now on. Please, for the love of God, someone stand up to these jackasses!!!

You don't want none unless you got some son.

How so?
Do you really need me to explain why it is a bad idea for a white woman to post a picture of herself from behind and captioning it by saying she has an "LA face and an Oakland booty"?
Would you consider it a good idea to post a picture of yourself and caption it with "An Asian dick with a Somali net worth?"

Read some of the criticisms. These people know it's a lyric and yet are still criticizing her.
Well that is absurd. Referencing the song is fine.

I like big butts and I can not lie.

Then she probably would have never used that caption in the first place.
Probably not, I'm just pointing out it is understandable that there would be backlash from people who don't recognize the lyric.

That's a pretty stupid comparison, but you knew that.

Well for starters LA is predominantly Hispanic and Oakland is a majority white, so explain the race issue with that? I get the way the context is taken to be that the races for the cities are different than they are, but it's not true. Also, since when does a race get to claim a body feature? Irish women and Hispanic women have been known for their hips and booty as well, are you saying that is somehow not valid now?

Apparently you don't.

In the context of the lyric it means she has a beautiful face and a ghetto arse. I'm not sure what is hard to understand about that.
This has nothing to do with facts and everything to do with perception.
Again, I'm not offended in the slightest, and I wouldn't be if it was any other set of cities, but to act like you don't understand the connotation is a bit disingenuous.

I didn't think you were. I just don't comprehend the faux outrage being thrown out by people who live there lives to be outraged.

I understand the lyrics were intended to glorify the body of AA women. I just think the idea of Oakland or booty being synonymous with AA women is preposterous given that the facts say otherwise.

This has nothing to do with facts

I asked this is the Steven Adams thread and i'll ask it again. Are any people of color actually outraged or is this just more fake anger?

Looking at the Jez article and comments it appears everyone that is offended by everything and you have no right to say otherwise because you don't know what you don't know. I'm not saying you're racist, but you did bring it up. Hmmm... I wonder why you're so worried about it. These people are

know you're being sarcastic, but if it wasn't the lyric in a popular song then it would have been an ill-advised caption at best. The "problem" here is that some people don't know it's a lyric.
Some of you easily offended types need to learn that not everything racial is racist.

I'll use the Steven Adams example since someone else brought it up. I specifically said in that thread that people would be offended but there wasn't a single racial intention in that comment he made.
That being said, we factually know that a monkey is not an African American, and an African American is not a monkey, but at some point in time that term became a racial insult directed at AAs.
A similar thing has happened with black women and big asses. Factually correct? No, not always. Accepted socially? Yes.
I'm not really caught up in the idea that black women have some sort of monopoly on the big arse market, and I couldn't care less about the comment Lively made other than to say that people shouldn't be shocked in 2016 when people take issue with comments that have even the slightest racial connotations. Is it ridiculous? Absolutely, but it shouldn't be a surprise.
