Gold is far and away the best currency. It always has value and always will have value. People almost everywhere understand gold and it can be used in almost any situation. Every other currency just comes and goes since they have no actual value. It is why the founders didn't allow paper money and at the very least the currency had to be tied to physical metals.

I'm not investing in appl today because of what they did 10 years ago
I'm investing in thier future growth as a company.

I'm investing in thier potential. The potential to make me money. That is the entire point of the market.

Oh rly? So you're not investing in a company with a proven history of innovation and marketing that was solidified with their biggest hit that happened 10 years ago?

According to your theory, you should've been buying apple stock before 2007, not now

We can look at crypto in a similar regard to how one can look at Tesla

Investors are buying now because of the future potential of the company. They do not care that they have yet to turn a profit

You said that the value of gold does not change. This is not true. It changes all the time. Maybe what you meant that the supply does not change. This is more true, but still not completely true. In modern times the supply is probably very stabile as I don't know of any significant deposits that have been found recently.

I don't want to get too much into the disadvantage of the gold standard as it has been a long time since I took my central banking economics class, and I would need a review to talk completely confidently. I will say confidently that it isn't as simple as saying that the gold standard is simply better.

You mean after they've proven there is a market for their vehicles and have been able to reach a price point where they have a considerably larger potential customer base?

Hm go figure

It is an exaggeration of how it is the best currency. See the price of gold never changes, it is all the other currencies that change. Usually other currencies will inflate, sometimes deflate, but always end.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt that you just made an error of expression. You are just silly. The amount of goods that a given amount of gold could buy has changed from year to year. The amount of value that it could return to you has changed. Therefore the value has changed.

You are speaking pure nonsense.

In this thread:

We argue that one of the worst performing investments of all time is actually the best

AND

That past performance has no bearing on stock purchases and therefore stock price

I literally said it was an exaggeration of being the best currency.

Gold is the true value of all currency because it is the only constant currency. All other currencies are the variables, as they inflate, deflate, and most importantly end; gold never ends. You see, it is an exaggeration based on its permanence compared to every other currency? Yes, gold can be mined and used commercially changing its amount (and value) but compared to every other fiat based currency it is unchanged (or unchanging).

quote:

The amount of goods that a given amount of gold could buy has changed from year to year.

This is such a given that it is not important because people and places value things differently (for all currencies). Guys won't place the same value on tampons that a girl would for example.

I still don't believe they exist because I haven't seen one. There are no pictures online or anywhere. How big are they? Smaller or larger than a quarter?

Bitcoins are data, not physical. It is not actually a coin.

It's like saying you don't believe computer software exists because you haven't physically seen computer software. Bitcoins, like computer software, are stored on hard drives, USB drives, in the cloud, etc.
