What am I being defensive about?
Probably the same thing you accused me of being defensive about.

You’re the one that tried to insult me by saying I wasn’t intelligent enough to understand…. lol.
You being insulted by facts is a you problem.
There’s a reason you didn’t respond to the $500 gift cards being sold for $429, or the different vendors selling equal equipment for different prices. What is that reason, exactly?
You claim gold has intrinsic value because it has utility, because Donald trump has a gold toilet. So porcelain has intrinsic value and should be included in this conversation, right?
I have never used gold to purchase something. I have used candy to purchase something. Should candy be included in this conversation as well?
The reason you aren’t intelligent enough to understand, is because you don’t and you aren’t. Things only have value because enough people agree they do. Gold has no useful utility in 2024 that requires it to have more value than pooka shells, but it does because enough people agree that it does. I own nothing gold and have no desire to. It has no value to me, that doesn’t mean it has no value to other people. The same applies to bitcoin, usd, stocks, toilets, and literally anything else.
I don’t own any bitcoin and have no upcoming plans to. That doesn’t stop me from acknowledging that it has value that is recognized by enough people to make it viable.

So funny- you sit on a sports message board and hurl insults to people as though that’s some sort of achievement…. Does it make you feel smarter?
No.
It makes me weep for humanity.

So you’re sitting on $2,000,000 in bitcoin!
You holding or selling?
No. I couldn't figure out all the hoops back then to buy it and gave up figuring it was too hard to ever use.
To be fair if I did I'd probably long ago cashed in anyway. Maybe held 1 just to see.

So you don’t own it. Gotcha.
It has market value. From what I can gather, that is all it has. It has No usage value or other instrinsic value.
I think we’re getting somewhere

Do not engage Slidell on this subject. You are wasting time. Some people get it. Some people don't. That's how it is.

Everything else laid out in that post explaining why you’re wrong, and all you attempt is a gotcha about me not owning bitcoin, which I ever insinuated I did in the first place.
This is why you aren’t intelligent enough to understand.

You will continue to go in never ending circles with Slidell, just FYI

well this triggers my decade long weekly regret at missing out on the only thing this site would have ever been useful for.
you always read about people getting lucky with investments or jobs with some stock payout or IPO or some bullshite. you always wonder when your chance at something like that is or how to make it happen.
i truly think my chance at that was spending every single fricking day on TD and reading about this fricking bitcoin thing from a hippy swinger who i never believed a word from. because of that, i didnt do shite

If it makes you feel better, it's unlikely you would have held that long. I know I wouldn't have.
You could have also lost your private keys or been hacked.

Slidell why do you continue to ignore the utility of other tokens like Ethereum which has a massive decentralized app store which requires Ethereum to use?
And here is your Bitcoin purchase. You have known for over a year that Bitcoin purchases are a thing. You have been sent links multiple times proving it. You deserve a time out at this point.

Slidell is a crypto retard and needs a timeout, mods. He keeps derailing thread after thread.

Nah
I’m definitely intelligent enough to understand
I have bought and profited from bitcoin. it seems even you haven’t done that so I have at least that degree of intelligence
What exactly am I wrong about?

What you call derailing is really just a light bring shined on the possibility that bitcoin is not some panacea for poorness. It’s fraught with risk and your unwillingness to admit that is what the mods ought to cal out.
And as for PayPal accepting crypto as currency, it should be clarified that they accept it as currency being used between buyer and seller and not them as a company.
Why would any company accept a currency that is as volatile as bitcoin or other crypto? lol.
And what happened to the poster saying that bitcoin isn’t a currency?
Why are so many of you confused about what it is?

Now do AT&T, Microsoft, and Expedia

Phhhhhwew…. It’s just so exhausting. Costco can do whatever they want with their gift cards to entice shoppers. You’re trying to equate things that have no equivalence. It’s as if you’re trying to confuse the topic. Maybe you’re just confused?
A vendor can sell whatever they want for the price they want be it a gift card or ice chest. They set their price according to what they are want.
Do you buy things with bitcoin? If so, what?

If they accept payment in the form of bitcoin for their services then that could add to some intrinsic value.
I have an att account and there is no allowance for me to pay for my usage with bitcoin. What exactly are you referring to?

AT&T* will now accept online bill payments through BitPay, a respected cryptocurrency payment processor. AT&T becomes the first major U.S. mobile carrier to provide a cryptocurrency payment option to customers. “We’re always looking for ways to improve and expand our services,” said Kevin McDorman, vice president, AT&T Communications Finance Business Operations. “We have customers who use cryptocurrency, and we are happy we can offer them a way to pay their bills with the method they prefer.” Customers will be able to select BitPay as a payment option when they log on to their accounts online or with the myAT&T app.

I understand. Thinking is hard for unintelligent people.

Costco is selling something worth $500 usd for $429 usd. How does that make sense? Don’t they know about the usd’s intrinsic value?
quote:

As has been pointed out several times, you just aren’t intelligent enough to understand.
quote:
A vendor can sell whatever they want for the price they want be it a gift card or ice chest. They set their price according to what they are want.
But it’s the same equipment. It has the same intrinsic value whether it’s sold by vendor a or vendor b. How does that make sense? Don’t they know about intrinsic value?
quote:

What part of me saying I dont own any bitcoin are you not intelligent enough to understand?
