SOA effect.

That's pretty much what we chalk a lot of it up to. It was a great TV show but one of the downsides is so many people watched it and thought that it was what being in a MC is really like. It was not long after that show came out that there was a big uptick in the number of bikers and it seemed new clubs were popping up all over the place.

I hear ya, brother. Let's just keep riding and feel the wind in our hair.

We all gotta do our part and keep mudchecking as much as possible. Make it pain them so much in the arse that they wince everytime they sit on their hogs.

So the cops knew this was gonna happen and waiting till they started shooting at each other? Am I reading that right?

Cops new there could be violence. Pleaded with Twin Peaks to cooperate and prevent them. They refused.

Biker violence has always been around though, personally felt a lot of the guys in SOA were tame, just..sorta cartoonish.

Form your link....

Cossacks and the Bandidos. Bandidos are the MC that pretty much run Waco, if you want to start an MC in this area, you need to have them approve it first or things get hairy. Cossacks have been encroaching for a few years now and it came to a head at their Confederacy of Clubs meeting, basically a gathering of the heads of local clubs. Bandidos had about 100+ members from all over Texas there ready to wreck shop, and wouldn't ya know it...explosion of gunfire and gangland combat. Waco PD even had SWAT on hand at Twin Peaks BEFORE the shooting started and it still got this crazy.

This is a growing problem all over the country. The C.O.C's were established decades ago to bring all the Clubs together and help keep the peace. Think of them as the biker's world version of the U.N. Each State has it's own C.O.C.

However, what's happened is that while these C.O.C.'s are supposed to give equal voice to all Clubs in a state, the reality of them now is that the big 1%er clubs now dominate the C.O.C's. and basically use them to dominate and control the other Clubs.

i know you're joking but that's what being a biker is supposed to be about. And being in a club is supposed to be about brotherhood and respect for the biker life.

Sadly, as we see from what happened today, too many in my own world have lost sight of that. Now it's all about power, control, and politics.

But the thing about this though is that the world has changed. The days where Clubs could go to open war with one another are over and have been for quite some time. The only thing that can come from war now is the clubs involved will be crushed by the feds, lots of people will end up dead or in prison, and the MC community as a whole will take a black eye or worse. Already there are efforts on the Federal level to totally do away with MC's and what happened today only serves to give them more motivation to do away with us all.

Well there's an old saying we have that if you have to have it explained to you, you won't get it. But here goes anyway.

First and foremost the biker lifestyle is about two things. Freedom & respect.

Freedom to live your life according to your own will and your own terms. That does not mean being a criminal, although many mistakenly think this way.

Respect is also a big part of our world. Respect means you treat others how you want them to treat you. When someone is nice to you, give them the same kindness back and then some. When someone is an a-hole to you, you give them that back and then some (BTW, the later part of that is why I get into pissing matches with some on here). It also means you respect traditional, old school values that this country was founded on.

Darth, I just want to thank you for bringing "mudcheck" into the OT vernacular. 20 years from now, posters will be using the term, and the old timers will brag about posting in the same threads as you.

Here's one thing they've tried....

LINK

The problem though is that not all Clubs are criminal. For every criminal club out there, there's more that are law abiding and family oriented. The vast majority of clubs do a lot of good in the community. And to be honest, it does piss me off that the criminal element of the MC world tars the reputation of the rest of us.
