Lol I never would of thought DFW would get zero snow and Houston/LA get half a foot in total for the winter.
The Alpine community of Clinton, LA needs to work on their marketing. I skied without lift lines even the day after Christmas!

I'm surprised to not see GEAUXmedic in this thread too much. Where has he been? And rlds or whatever his name is -- where has he been?

Knowing my luck, I'll end up being able to drive back New Years Day - just to get back to NOLA and our office be shut down on Tuesday because of the weather.

I think a warm nose could be an issue for SE TX. Both the Canadian and euro show sleet.

EURO coming in with slightly higher snow amounts than previously. Now showing 3"-3 1/2" for the BR area whereas before it was showing right at 3". Projected amounts are increasing, which is a good sign.
Can you imagine if we end up getting nearly 10" of snowfall in one winter in the BR area?!
What's most interesting about this map is the 5"+ from Slidell to the southwest Mississippi coast. That appears to be LAKE EFFECT SNOWFALL.

Slidell is the lake effect snow capital of the Gulf south.

TDnsgumbo has definitely taken the lead as number one wishcaster of bad weather.

What is the joke with lake effect snow? What am I missing here?
Posted on 12/28/17 at 9:25 am to TDsngumbo
I haven't been to work since last Thursday and if anything close to this happens I may not be back in the office until next Wednesday or Thursday.
Bring it on!

Slidell is the Buffalo of the South.

bullshite. This potential event isn't "bad" weather IMO. Also, I'm just passing along model output. If that's wishcasting then I'm guilty.

I just hope you dont jump off of a bridge if we dont get any snow.

South Bend, IN
Erie, PA
Buffalo, NY
Slidell, LA
The Great Lakes produce lake effect snow when extremely cold air sweeps over unfrozen water.
This is NEVER supposed to happen on Lake Pontchartrain

This may well be the first time that's been seriously stated in recorded history.

This potential Event IS a bad sign for people in LA... we are prepared for an event like this... cold is one thing but 3-4 inches of snow is another.... up north .... they get 3-4 inches of snow and roll right along... down here it will shut down the whole area... bridges will close and traffic will be an even bigger cluster than usual....
