And this is how you lose money.

This is how you cover up the fact that you were making bets for a banned gambler.

Adducci placed the bet Wednesday with the William Hill Sportsbook, the same book where he made his $85,000 bet on Woods to win the Masters at 14-1 odds, a wager he claims was his first sports bet.
he is also a liar.

Take the other 50% of the profit to make "smart" bets.

What the frick are you talking about? In no situation is the "smart" thing to do is bet half of all your winnings on whatever the hell a "smart" bet is

Wait... Okay.

My mistake, I didn't pay 100% attention. I was thinking he was putting it all on Woods winning the Grand Slam.

Yeah, I doubt Tiger wins the grand slam, but he is only putting down $100k.

He started with $85,000. Now he's at $1.2mil. At worst he's at $1.1mil.

Of the 1.2 he paid at least 450k in taxes, so he doesn't have nearly as much as you think he does.

How does that work? If he let's it ride and never realizes his profit does it still count as income?

Have never really gambled to know this answer.

Is it more or less than the $85k he started with?

If he loses it all in the same year he won it, his gambling winnings would be $0 for the year. I would think there is a good chance the casino (or wherever the bet was made) withholds the taxes from the winnings upfront though

I mean it's not really a bet when you have one of these...

you can look at it as only risking 15K because he was willing to lose the 85 on the masters, and actually won.

I think this guy was living in his parents basement. That would be a good reason not to set fire to 100k
