I think some of them are emotional reactions.
And the ones that are calculated isn't in the best interest of the country. It might be in his self-interest, but he is obsessed with the news. There was an article a few weeks ago about how he always has the news on. If he is in a meeting, the TV is on mute but he is constantly looking up to read the scroll.
He is more concerned about his image and what others say about him than anything else.. The country and the position is a lot bigger than him.
