Are your problems due to post-operative chronic pain, or objective findings confirm that you will eventually need another spine surgery and you have lost trust in your current physician ?

both but mostly the latter. i know I'll need more procedures at some point but i have lost faith in my surgeon. i had RFA done on both sides of 3 levels about 9 months ago. since those procedures i hurt even more and when i tell him that his response is "we have already treated that area" he frankly seemed a little offended that i dare say his procedure did not do what he said it would do. when i asked for pain meds to deal with the pain, he told i was probably becoming an addict because he treated my pain. pissed me the frick off.

Just curious if your doctor has ever suggested a Spinal Cord Stimulator implant to minimize your pain ?

this has never been discussed. what type of pain does it treat? what does it do?

Louisiana is last in everything and is probably the last place I'd look for a doctor to operate on my spine.

The MIL needed a very very very invasive back surgery. Interviewed doctors all over the country.

Ended up with this guy after hes was recommended by other doctors. Dr. Gupta

Second the RIP for Fraser. Great guy and great surgeon. Touching seeing many patients at his funeral.

Scrantz is great.

You do know that doctors practicing in Louisiana do fellowships and train under the best physicians all over the US ?

You're obviously clueless when it comes to spine surgeons in LA; otherwise you would have known that Dr Anil Nanda (LSU-Shreveport) is regarded as one of the best in the world.

She did the bone graft in my neck last year after I fractured C5 in a bad accident. Inside the hospital she's a grade a ahole, but she's a great surgeon and in her office she's really nice. It threw me off guard the first time I saw her in the office, I was expecting The same demeanor she had in the hospital, I didn't know how to react to her.

Luke Corsten at Neuromedical Center in Br. He is easily one of the smartest people that I have ever met.

That seems like a foolish position to take. Are you opposed to western medicine?

My neurosurgeon straight up told me, "We don't do back or neck surgery for back or neck pain - we do back surgery for leg pain and neck surgery for arm pain (or numbness). If your back or neck pain goes away too, consider it a bonus." Also said he personally won't recommend a lumbar fusion unless your are losing control of your bowels or can't walk.

I saw him about 8 years ago and was ready for surgery. He recommended a round of extreme physical therapy and it was a miracle. I suffered from extreme pain from 2 herniated discs (L 4&5) for 30 years. I have been able to do things I never dreamed I would be able to do again.

That's interesting.

I had spinal surgery as a teenager for scoliosis (1 rod, 4 screws, lateral incision). Within the last year, I've started having lots of problems with my back and neck. Had a brief period where I lost feeling in both feet, my right hand and arm and side of my face. Finally went to see Dr. Wolf in LC (well, one of his NP's), was essentially told there was "too much wrong with me" and referred to Dr. Rex Marco (spinal reconstructive surgeon) in Houston.
I've been too freaked out that I'll actually have to have a major back surgery again to follow through with making the appointment.

Extreme Physical Therapy - I went 4 days a week for 5 weeks. Started off with learning how to stretch, strengthening your core and overall improving fitness. Each session ended with heat stimulation, which is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. The PT built up the sessions as we went on. I was skeptical but It worked.

Doing it while in pain - I was under both doctor's & PT supervision but I was in pain to start.

As a point of reference - before therapy, I needed 2 - 3 days rest between rounds of golf. After, I could/can play everyday now.

Good luck !
