Any recs? I’m about to be spending a bunch of time in Djibouti and I understand there’s some great diving there so I’m gonna give it a go.
Any equipment I need to purchase or will most of it be available at the dive shop?

If you’ve got time before you go, find a local dive shop and take a PADI course. At least open water cert.

You can take the written portion of the certification process online. Your choices are PADI or SDI for certification.

You can if they have a dive instructor and it will be less bullshite than in the States.

All of it should be. Give it a few times before purchasing anything. Find out what works for you. Its fun (if you're not a claustrophobic weenie like I was)

This times a million. I have a complete set of gear I haven't used in years and never did get my money's worth out of it. Unless you live near the ocean it makes no sense to buy anything except maybe your mask and fins.

Thanks, I’ll look into that. Just google PADI I assume?
