Trinity to start, then switch to Jesuit/Newman/McGehee/Sacred Heart depending on the child's needs around 6th-9th grade. Maybe Country Day if they suck at academics but you don't want them to be around trash.

CD and St. Martin's send several kids to Ivy league schools every year. They aren't getting there if they 'suck at academics.' Sacred Heart, meanwhile, has pretty average college acceptances these days.

The best school in the state is a public school. Ben Franklin, and it's not close.
As a Jesuit grad, if I lived in Orleans parish and I had kids I would send them to Franklin.

Probably not going to matter much if Junior is an unmotivated rock.
Jesuit almost certainly has the best price to results ratio of the private schools.

From what I heard Rummel may as well be West Jeff

ETA: As a Baton Rouge person who has no dog whatsoever in the petty bullshite that is NOLA high school rivalry, my son will go to Jesuit hands down. It is the clear best school, and also the cheapest. No brainer

Newman if you are an OT baller.
Franklin if your child is exceptionally smart.
NOCCA if your child has a high aptitude in the arts.

About half of my sister's class at STM went to prestigious schools. The other half went to LSU or decent state schools. Only one of them went into the military IIRC. The rest all went to college.
Problem most of them are having now is that they grew up hanging out with the same 50 people from 1st through 12th grade (little sister was K-12 with 15 of the same people), and a lot have gotten overwhelmed and want to move closer to home.
I went to Country Day for a little while, and the kids weren't that smart IMHO. I was more advanced coming from Kehoe, even though I wasted 1.5 years in JP public schools

When did you go? There were a ton of smart kids when I went, kids getting scholarships to UVA, going to Yale etc. The lower and middle schools weren't too much to write home about from my observations, but high school really picked it up a notch. Most of the smartest kids I can recall came in just for high school. Even most the kids that weren't that bright at the time are doing really well for themselves.
