What about in DFW? Does anyone know where I can find the best King Cake? Do they also do different flavors, or just traditional?

You should've ordered one from somewhere.

Is the Nonna Randazzo cake, that you can find all over the state, similar to the Manny Randazzo one?

Pretty similar.

I ordered a Haydels cake online and had it shipped to my door, and when I got home it had been pilfered and destroyed by raccoons, so that one has inter species popularity.

I don't get the love for Meches, tastes like a big donut to me. I like Randazzo's and Keller's the best

You can try Haydel’s, but my bet is both them and Manny Randazzos are sold out of shipping dates from now until after Mardi Gras

Actual French bakers in any state. The King Cake dates back hundreds of years. It isn't a strictly Louisiana thing.

actually i have every year. i like king cakes, but they are overrated AS FUK. its a cinn roll with sugar poured on top.

Most of the folks in here probably don’t realize the traditional king cake uses a cinnamon roll dough recipe, so you gotta cut them some slack. Topping and fillings are the generall differences, though Rickey Meche developed his, with the help of a food scientist I think, to accommodate his lack of an oven to produce it in. Thus the doughnut based king cake. Keller’s actually use a 120 year old family danish recipe, according to their website, they’re probably my favorite, though I do like Meche’s a lot.

You can get a Gambino’s king cake at Kroger in DFW. It’s not bad and they taste pretty fresh. We’ve bought a couple this year and ordered a couple Manny Randazzo’s and a Dong Phuong. You just have to plan early bc they quit shipping them later in the season.
